Chocolate is a special treat in and of itself, however, some of us want to enjoy it in other forms as well. A great chocolate chip cookie recipe can make you smile, or how about chocolate cake or German chocolate cake? We're ready for dessert just thinking about these and other sweets. Here are a few of our favorite chocolate recipes:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 c Flour
1 t Baking Soda
¼ t Salt
1 ¼ c Brown Sugar
1 c Butter
1 t Vanilla
1 Egg
2 c Chocolate Chips
1 c Chopped Nuts (we like pecans instead of the traditional walnuts)
1 c Raisins (another non-traditional addition)
Pre-heat oven to 375. Drop cookies 2” apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 min.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 ½ c Flour
1 t Baking Soda
½ c Sugar
½ c Brown Sugar (packed)
1 c Butter
½ c Peanut Butter
1 t Vanilla
1 Egg
2 c Chocolate Chips
Pre-heat oven to 375. Form 1” balls, place 2 “ apart on ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly. Bake 10-15 min.
Peanut Butter Button Cookies
1 ½ c Flour
1 t Baking Soda
½ c Sugar
½ c Brown Sugar (packed)
1 c Butter
½ c Peanut Butter
1 t Vanilla
1 Egg
1 Hershey's Kiss (any flavor) per cookie
Pre-heat oven to 375. Form 1” balls, place 2 “ apart on ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly. Press one Kiss into the center of each cookie. Bake 10-15 min.
French Silk Pie
1 Baked 9” Pie Shell
4 oz Unsweetened Chocolate Bars or Squares
1 c Butter (softened)
2 c Powdered Sugar
4 Eggs (large)
Melt chocolate. Set aside hot chocolate. Whip butter and sugar. Add cooled chocolate. Add eggs one at a time, beating mixture for 5 minutes between each egg. Chill. Serve chilled and topped with whipped cream.
Hunt Club Fudge Pie
½ c Butter
1 c Sugar
2 Eggs (separate yolks & whites)
2 sq Baking Chocolate Bar (melted)
1 t Vanilla
1/3 c Flour
1/8 t Salt
Pre-heat oven to 325. Cream butter, add sugar. Beat in egg yolks, melted chocolate, and vanilla. Stir in flour. Fold in egg whites stiffly beaten with salt. Pour into buttered 9” pie pan. Bake for 30 min. Serve warm, topped with ice cream.
Hershey Bar Pie
18 Large Marshmallows
½ c Condensed Milk
8 Small Hershey Bars with Almonds
1 c Whipping Cream
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt marshmallows in milk stirring constantly. Add chocolate until melted. Cool. Whip cream, fold in chocolate/marshmallow mixture. Place over wafer crust of your choice (try vanilla wafers or graham crackers) crushed and pressed into 9” pie pan. Chill well before serving.
